The conversions are finally finished. The reins and horse furniture has been  soldered in place figures attached to the horses.

The two figures have now been completed all the detail engraved, the stirrups, swords, scabbards, sabretache, and pelisse soldered to the figures.

MURAT CONVERSION CONT>
Straps soldered to sword scabbards and sabretache , the stirrups are made and the pelisse cleaned up and ready to solder to the figures.

MURAT CONVERSION CONT>  The sword blades and scabbards have been shaped and hammered flat. the sabretache  is made from brass sheet, the cords are twist electrical core wire and strapping made from garden ties ( plastic coating ) removed and hammered flat.

The basic detail has now been added with solder such as plume, feathers, cartridge box, tassels on boots, shabraque, the fringes, coat tails and horsehair on Dragoon officers helmet. The head for Murat has been attached by pinning and soldering.

Both of the dollies have been roughed out using a modelling knife, rat tail file and my trusty old Dremel, the horses reins have also been removed.

Murat Conversion

 These are the figures used for the Murat conversion I made in 1984 photo above. I am going to recreate the duo for Carlo and will be running through the procedure from start to finish on this thread, hope it helps you budding converters.

The basic figures for this project are 2 Foremost horses, Hinchliffe charging Dragoon trooper and Connoisseur Dragoon officer, a pelisse cut from a spare Hussar and a head wearing a cocked hat taken from a spare French Marshal. The next task will be to make new scabbards, sabretaches, stirrups etct. which will then be soldered to the figures. Personnely I tend to think Historex kits when I'm converting figs, anyone who has built a Historex kit will know the sequence of making them so I tend to follow the same procedure. I hope these ramblings help those thinking of having a crack at converting.
