Amazing how the oil paint wipe off method looks so good Doug. Can I ask how long you wait and what colours you use for the base and then the oil top coat - is it ochre then burnt umber?
The key to wipe and swipe is quite simple, different undercoat colours give different shades, ie. white , yellow, ochre etc. the top coats for the finished horse is oil paint, burn umber, burnt sienna, raw umber and so on it all depends on the horse colour you prefer. leave the undercoat to dry for 48 hours at least then apply the oils, wipe the paint off with a piece of smooth sponge wipeing across the muscles then with soft tissue wipe over again to the desired effect. this method is only used on brown horses, blacks and greys are paint normally.
